I decline to accept the end of man. . . . I believe that man will not merely endure: he will prevail. He is immortal, not because he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice, but because he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance.

Dear Group:

It's a very uplifting quotation of William Faulkner which reveals his attitude to writing and his mission the way he understood and lived it. I am happy you have found it and singled it out.

But as would-be scholars, we need to pay due tribute to his genius by acknowledging the sources and providing links to them. Could you please edit your posts and give William Faulkner due credit? Thanks a lot for that!
